Decode gematria

text

Gematria is an ancient system of assigning numerical values to words, phrases and letters. It has been used for centuries in many different cultures, from the Jewish tradition of Kabbalah to Medieval Latin. Nowadays, it is often used to decode coded messages and decipher mystery texts.

To unpack a gematria-coded text, one needs knowledge of the assignment of numerical values to letters, words and phrases. Generally, the letters of a language, or an alphabet like Hebrew or Latin, will be given specific numbers (with some variations depending on the tradition). By looking up these values in a numerical code table and adding up all the numbers in any given phrase or sentence (and any other instructions provided), an encrypted message can be deciphered.

For example, if you had an encrypted gematria message that read '45:39:49' , you would look up each number in the code table. This could be translated as 'I am alive' because 45 can be translated as I, 39 as am and 49 as alive.

Gematria codes have been used for centuries for everything from divination to cryptography. They are especially useful for decoding passwords or secret messages that might contain personal information or sensitive data. They can also provide insight into certain parts of religious texts that have obscure meanings by looking at numeric values assigned to certain words.
